All fires must be in a fire box raised at least 10cm off the ground; ensure the ground underneath is protected from scorching e.g. by a heatproof mat or damp towel.
A responsible adult must be in charge of any fire; fires must not be left unattended at any time.
All encampments using fires must have a fire bucket (sand or water) ready to use whenever a fire is lit.
Flames providing light must be enclosed; where possible use LED lighting.
No flames, enclosed or otherwise, may be taken into the castle buildings.
There is to be no smoking or vaping inside the castle walls or buildings.
The castle grounds are extensive, please smoke well away from communal areas.
Do NOT use or carry glassware inside the castle walls. If you require glassware in the great hall for feast please make sure to carry it in a box or other container.
The inner courtyard is a scheduled part of the site. No pegs or stays may penetrate more than Six Inches. Please consult with the Event Steward before erecting any tents or awnings inside the castle walls.
We may close bookings when the area available for tents is used up. Please ensure that all tent sizes are reported accurately.
Guy-lines must be clearly marked with light-coloured ribbon or similar and must not obstruct walkways. Where possible, mark the edges of campsites and ends of ropes with LED lanterns etc.
Please do not set up tents or carry out other noisy activities after 11pm.
Please ask before pitching your tent! Every group will be allocated a set space so that we can fit in as many people as possible.
Cars may only be brought into the camp grounds with the permission of the steward. Please unload as quickly as possible then remove your vehicle to the designated event parking area.
Please avoid arriving or leaving between 11pm and 8am, except in an emergency.
This event is a safe and inclusive space wherever it is held. Respectful and unbiased conduct is expected by all attendees at all times; you may be asked to leave if you behave in a manner that causes discomfort to others.
The safety and regulatory directions of event staff (including stewards, marshals and day/night staff) must be followed by all attendees.
The event site does allow dogs.
Dogs MUST remain on a lead while inside the castle walls.
The dog owner remains liable and responsible for the dog's behaviour at all times.
Dog's must be safely contained, e.g. in an escape-proofed tent or crate, or kept on a lead held by a familiar and responsible person capable of handling them.
Dog's must be tagged with the owner's legal name and contact number.
You must immediately clean up after your dog and dispose of waste in appropriate receptacles.
Dog's must be kept well fed and watered - no begging from camps or visitors!
Ensure that your dog has adequate protection from the sun and rain, and don't leave it inside a hot tent or car.
Remain considerate of other event attendees, staff and members of the public who may have allergies or who may not be comfortable around dogs.
The comfort of human attendees, guests and staff has priority over the presence of your dog. If we get complaints about noise or other poor behaviour, you will be asked to take your dog home.
