Critical Thinking and Design Thinking

The event began with a brief introduction of the speaker and her days in daulat ram as an alumna of psychology Department. Dr. Sheetal holds 26 years of experience as a teacher and a professional, and has briefly worked in the corporate world as well.

She began by explaining what critical thinking means and how India as a nation does not essentially think critically. The session was quite interactive with the audience opening up, and excited to share their own views on the topic in hand.

She backed her stances with facts, data and Statistics- being informative whilst being practical. She further explained a practical procedure of achieving critical thinking while also sharing valuable and insightful experiences and examples.

She stated the key to critical thinking in the acronym RED:

R: Recognise Assumption

E: Evaluate Arguments

D: Draw Conclusions

She further introduced the attendees to the concept of ladder inference and explained its key components. She used interactive case studies in her explanations, which truly intrigued the critical thinking of students.

She additionally conceptualised design thinking and summarised the topic in a clear, practical process of Empathize-Define-Ideate-Prototype-Test Module. Throughout the session, the students were engaged and intrigued to learn more from the incredible speaker and her out of the box prowess.
