Acerca de nuestra lotería

El Programa de Lenguaje Dual en Merrick-Moore se realiza a través de una lotería que refleja nuestra comunidad escolar. Cualquier estudiante que viva dentro de los límites escolares de Merrick-Moore es elegible para presentar una solicitud.  Enlace proximante.

Tenemos una lotería para 12 estudiantes de habla hispana y 12 estudiantes de habla inglesa. ¡Hacemos esto porque creemos que el beneficio de que los estudiantes de habla hispana mantengan su primer idioma es muy importante! Esto les da a los estudiantes de habla hispana la oportunidad no solo de ser bilingües sino también de alfabetizar en dos idiomas. La investigación también muestra que cuando los estudiantes dominan su primer idioma, pueden aprender un segundo idioma con más facilidad y confianza.

Finalmente, debido a que las familias pueden mudarse, mantenemos dos listas de espera para estudiantes de habla inglesa y española. Si hay un lugar disponible, podemos agregar un estudiante de habla inglesa hasta el comienzo de su primer año de grado. Si un lugar está disponible en nuestra lista de espera de habla hispana, podemos agregar un estudiante en cualquier momento, siempre y cuando pase nuestra evaluación que le damos para asegurarnos de que sea adecuado para ese estudiante.

About our Lottery

The Dual Language Immersion Program at Merrick-Moore is done through a lottery that reflects our school community. Any student that lives within the Merrick-Moore school boundaries is eligible to apply.  If you would like to find out more about the program or visit our school please review our tour dates Add link to dates of our sessions- create nice flyer!  The lottery for Dual Language Immersion is January 8th - February 9th.  

The application lottery is for rising Kindergarten students for the 2024-25 school year. The district will have a lottery for 12 Spanish speaking students and 12 English speaking Kindergarten students. We do this because we believe the benefit of Spanish speaking students keeping their first language is very important! This gives Spanish speaking students the chance to not only be bilingual but bi-literate. Research also shows that when students become strong in their first language they can learn a second language with more ease and confidence.
