Throughout 5th grade, students will explore a variety of stories, cultures, historical events, and literary genres. Each unit builds knowledge while helping students grow as thoughtful readers, writers, speakers, and critical thinkers.

📖 Unit 1 - Personal Narratives
Students will explore personal stories while developing skills in descriptive writing, making inferences, using text evidence, and connecting reading to their own experiences.
🌎 Unit 2 - Early American Civilizations
Students will discover the Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations, exploring their cultures, innovations, beliefs, achievements, and the events that shaped their histories.

Students will explore the creativity and power of poetry while developing confidence in interpreting poems and expressing their own ideas through language.
📚 Unit 4 - Adventures of Don Quixote
Students will read an adapted classic and explore character development, plot, literary elements, and themes such as morality, class, and human worth.

Students will explore the Renaissance and discover how artists, writers, scholars, and thinkers transformed art, literature, science, and culture.
