Policies/Expectations

Cell Phone Policy

At Edison Elementary, we teach and promote appropriate digital citizenship.  We believe that a cell phone “away” policy will allow us to help scholars to stay more present and engaged in their learning.  All students will continue to have access to their chromebooks and other tech tools to promote learning.

Students who are found with a cell phone will have the following consequences:

First time: phone will be stored in the office for the remainder of the day. Students can pick up their phone from principal or assistant principal at the end of the day.

Second time: phone will be stored in the office until picked up by caregiver.

Third time: Student, teacher, administrator, and caregiver will meet to create a cell phone contract.

Edison staff are not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones. If you are worried about this, please do not bring them to school.

School Dress Code

At Edison Elementary, we believe that all students should be able to dress comfortably for school without fear of or actual unnecessary discipline or body shaming. As such, student dress should follow these guidelines:

Students must wear clothing including both a shirt with pants or skirt, or the equivalent (for example dresses, leggings, or shorts) and shoes.

Shirts and dresses must have fabric in the front and on the sides (under the arms).

Clothing must cover undergarments and ‘private’ areas (waistbands and straps excluded).

Hats and other headwear must allow the face to be visible to staff, and not interfere with the line of sight of any student or staff. Hoodies must allow the face and ears to be visible to school staff.

Clothing must be suitable for all scheduled classroom activities including gym and recess.

(Clothing, jewelry, and personal items cannot contain threats, hate speech, or items that promote illegal activity.

Snack

Students will have the opportunity to eat a quick snack each day.

Please be mindful of peanut allergies and only send peanut-free snacks to school with your child.

Birthdays

I love birthdays, so let’s celebrate your child’s special day!  I will have something for your child on their birthday, but you may also bring goodies for the class!  Please contact me before sending any food items as we may have allergies or food restrictions.  I look forward to celebrating this special day with your child!
