Read a book with your child. Each day alternate what type of questions you ask. For example i) ask children to simply identify items, animals, characters and emotions ii) ask why, where, how questions about the story iii) ask your child to predict what will happen next iv) ask your child what their favorite part of the book was and why v) ask your child to retell the story, prompting them to give at least one more detail than they can independently.
