Pep Rally 1990 (Performance by Soccer team)
The 1990’s and early 2000’s were a historical time for Denver North High School, because that was the time when we officially became Denver North High School. Before that we were referred to as North-Side High, North Senior High and other various names but in the 90’s we officially became Denver North. During that time we had new milestones like Y2K and other very historical events that were watched by North students throughout the decades.
In 1991 Denver North High School Won the City Championship.
There drought would start in 1999 and then be broken in 2016
In 1999 the Denver North High School athletic department started a brand new sport at North. North started a field hockey team, unfortunately the sport was short-lived. The team has won City Championship in the Denver Prep League.

In the mid-1990's North had started to struggle a little bit, student numbers had gone down and gang violence in North Denver was on the rise. That carry it into the 2000’s with that decline the structure around Denver North High School started falling apart. Luckily by the mid-2000's Denver North High School had started its turn around. That turn around included a brand-new school update to bring back the historical glory.
Denver Post (Late 1990's)
In 1994 the Denver Classroom Teachers went on strike, this photo was taken outside of the cafeteria the morning of the strike. It's a picture of all the teachers that went out and stood up for North student rights. (1994)
Throughout the late 90's and early 2000's North had started going downhill. North once had a graduating class of 625 but in the early 2000's the graduating classes were in the hundreds. Numbers were low and DPS had expectations for North that were lower. the Denver Public Schools SPF rating for North High School was Red , we were the worst high school in the district.
So finally in the late 2000’s Denver North High School had a reconstruction. North High School at hired former Skinner Middle School principal Nicole Veltze. So in 2011 Denver North High School reopened its doors after the 34 million dollar renovation, not only did North get a brand new state-of-the-art building but from the time Nicole Veltze took over as the principal till the time she handed the job over to Principal Scott Wolf, North High School had went from the worst school in the district to one of the best schools in the State of Colorado. Denver North High School's SPF rating went from a Red to a Green, And the freshman Class in the 2018-19 school year was 340 students and growing. Not only did North High School reconstruct their building we reconstructed everything.
