As members of the Denver Community, the students and staff love going out and performing at different events. It is always a blast and the students love all there different groups we get to encounter and support with their music and choreography. They have the opportunity to perform, as well as learning a great deal about the organizations and people that we encounter. Some of the people we have met along the way have sent us messages after. These messages mean a great deal to us and bring us joy knowing that we have an impact on the people and groups that impact us as well. Here are a few those messages.

"I just wanted to take a moment and say Thank You so much for bringing the kids out to the Heart Walk to play! It was a huge hit! I have attached a photo of the group. Hopefully we can work together again next year."

2016 Heart Walk

American Heart Association

In 2017 we were invited to play at Nursing Home. We had a great time and the students loved the interaction and hearing stories from the residents about their time in marching band when they were students. Afterwards the residents had a few comments to share with us:

THANK YOU , THANK YOU , THANK YOU!

I thought I would share some comments from today

"when I heard the band tears ran from my eyes, I don't normally show emotion but it really moved me. I used to play the coronet and the sound of the band and the crisp air brought me right back in time."

"the kids were so well mannered- and they all said hi to us"

A lady confined to her room " It was fabulous, I loved marching bands, my brother who is a doctor now played the drums in the band, but I was a singer....it was fantastic!"

"How did you get 76 piece marching band to come see us?"

"The girl in front with the flag really was impressive, they all were impressive but I seemed to notice her for some reason."

"I can't remember the last time I saw a marching band, and they sounded so good! It was a wonderful day"

So again of behalf of myself and the residents and staff at Holly Heights THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

2015 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Gala

We had the great pleasure to be entertained by the Citywide Marching Band at our annual Colorado Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fundraising gala. The band led us into dinner with some lively songs to kick off the evening. The music was fantastic and set an energetic tone for the evening and I’m pleased to say that we raised a lot of money to help cure cystic fibrosis. We were all impressed with the kids. Not only for their musical talents, but for their excellent manners, friendliness and maturity. We had offered to provide them with a voucher for dinner, as a small token of our appreciation, but the kids requested that we donate the money to a homeless shelter, instead. That simple gesture of kindness and generosity really touched all of us.

I also want to recognize and thank Jason U’Ren for working with us to plan the event. He was incredibly professional, accommodating and fun to work with. We will definitely want to include the band in future events. I am impressed and grateful that Denver Public School provides this terrific program for kids in our community and in partnership with non-profits like ours. I think it’s a great educational opportunity for the kids to be exposed to the needs of others, like kids with CF. And, it was inspiring for people like me, and all our guests, to see talented kids working hard to improve their skills, while helping others. Thank you Citywide Marching Band and Denver Public Schools for making our event so special!
