2024 IATC Championships

The Maroons went to Ames to compete in the IATC Indoor Championships and ended up with a 3rd place finish. We were a little limited with the start of spring break, not having more than one entry in some events and also not running two of the relays, but those who went had strong performances all around.

Dowling finished with 40 team points - 14 from relays, 7 from field events, 7 from hurdles, and 12 from individual races. Here is where those points came from:

• Lauren McCoy finished 2nd in the 400 meter dash in 58.20 (8 points)

• The 4x100 team of Franny Brooks, Emily Heitzman, Shea Johnson, and Lauren McCoy finish 2nd in 50.36 (8 points) and secure a Drake Relays Blue Oval Standard

• The Sprint Medley team of Kate Nelson, Shea Johnson, Emily Heitzman, and Katherine Banker finish 3rd in 1:54.68 (6 points)

• In the 60 hurdles, Franny Brooks  finished 5th with a 9.46 (4 points) and Alex Gaskell finished 6th with a 9.52 (3 points)

• Emily Heitzman finished 5th in the 60 meter dash with a season's best tying 8.03 (4 points)

• In the long jump, Kate Nelson jumps a season's best 16'2.5 to finish 6th (3 points) and Adalyn Jones jumps 15'7 to finish 8th (1 point). Both made finals out of flight 1.

• Alex Gaskell ties for 6th place in the high jump at 4'11 (2 points)

• Alma Drazi throws a massive 33'8.25 after making finals out of the first flight to finish 8th (1 point)

In addition to the points, I also want to shout out our 4x800 team of Avery Muller, Braelyn Gifford, Sadie Reinhardt, and Frankie Darnell who ran a season's best time of 10:33.23

• Kate Nelson  - Long Jump: 6th all-time for juniors (16'2.5)

• Adalyn Jones - Long Jump: 6th all-time for freshmen (15'7)

• Alex Gaskell - 200 meters: 7th all-time for juniors (27.02)

• Alma Drazi - Shot Put: 8th all-time for juniors (33'8.25)

• Ellie Muller - High Jump: 10th all-time for sophomores (4'9)

• Alex Gaskell: 60 hurdles (9.52), 200 meters (27.02)

• Brooklyn Anderson: Shot put (26'9)

• Shea Johnson: 60 meters (8.24)

• Alma Drazi: Shot put (33'8.25)

• Franny Brooks: 60 hurdles (9.46)

• Veronica Eure: 800 meters (2:41.46)

• Adalyn Jones: Long jump (15'7)

• Cora Volp: 800 meters (2:37.40)

Here is a running list of the Blue Oval Standards the team has met to automatically qualify for the Drake Relays:

• 4x100: 50.36 - Franny Brooks, Emily Heitzman, Shea Johnson, and Lauren McCoy

• March 19th - Wartburg High School Indoor at Wartburg College

• March 26th - Waukee Girls Early Bird at Waukee High School

• April 2 - Northwest Girls Invite at Waukee Northwest High School
