*The meet officials told the jumpers they would all get 6 jumps and all made finals before the event began because there were only 9 jumpers - and they did all 6 jumps in a row and did not stop after the preliminary 3 jumps. Ruby fouled her first three jumps before jumping 17'8.5/16'10/17'9.5 and finishing first. After the event, Ames contested the results and the state disqualified Ruby's jumps (even though in their explanation they provided was an example that if an athlete who shouldn't be in finals is allowed to compete in finals their marks should still stand).Β
