The Dowling Catholic girls track and field team finished up their third and final indoor meet of the 2023 at the Wartburg High School Invitational. Our time in Waverly included 18 individual top 10 performances, 2 individual champions, 2 relay champions, 6 personal records, and 3 all-time performances. Here are some of the highlights!
High School Invitational #3 - Wartburg College (stats here)
On the track: Avery Muller started us off with a victory in the 3000 meter run with a new PR of 11:18.88. In the 55 hurdles, both Ruby Leman and Alex Gaskell qualified for finals and PR'd finishing 2nd (8.70) and 3rd (8.82) respectively. Olivia Kramer won the 55 meter dash in 7.32 with Shea Johnson finishing 6th in 7.81. In the 200 meter dash, Lauren McCoy set a new PR of 26.36 finishing 2nd with Olivia Kramer running a 26.84 to finish 4th. Sally Gaskell (5:13.69) and Molly O'Halloran (5:19.67) went 4-5 in the 1500 meter run. Annie Smith set a new PR of 1:02.38 in the 400 meter dash to finish 2nd with Reese Ervin finishing 3rd in 1:05.34. In the 800 meter run, Ella Anliker finished 3rd in 2:27.64 and Elise Huegerich finished 9th with a PR of 2:33.94.
In the field: Alex Gaskell led the way finishing 2nd in the high jump with a season's best 5'2. Ashley Hall finished in 8th place in the long jump with a 14'10. Kate Nelson did double duty, finishing 5th in high jump (4'10) and 7th in long jump (15'0).
Relays: Our 4x800 of Ella Anliker, Elise Huegerich, Sadie Reinhardt, and Sally Gaskell were champions in 10:10.94. Not to be out done, our 4x400 team of Ashley Hall, Reese Ervin, Annie Smith, and Lauren McCoy were also champions with a time of 4:13.72.
Into the record books:
Alex Gaskell's high jump of 5'2 ties the sophomore record
Lauren McCoy's 200 meter of 26.36 is 2nd all-time for freshmen
Olivia Kramer's 200 meter of 26.84 is 8th all-time for seniors
Where we stand in class 4A
Bound is now set to the spring season and we can see where we are at in class 4A without going through every meet! These standings are as of 2 pm on 3/22, noting this as some coaches take longer to update their stats. For the latest stats check here.

High Jump: Alex Gaskell T-3rd, Kate Nelson T-5th, Berit Kallemeier T-22nd
Long Jump: Kate Nelson 4th, Ruby Leman 5th, Ashley Hall 6th
Shot put: Yalayzah Lovan 19th
NOTE: Some schools haven't entered marks that were factored in to our previous post, leading to some of our marks being ranked higher than they were previously. Coaches are supposed to have stats updated by each Tuesday.
