All classes (K-6) will operate with online home learning platforms.
Kinder, Year 1, Year 2 - Seesaw Year 3 , Year 4 - Seesaw Year 5 - Seesaw Year 6 - Seesaw and Google Classroom
These will be the consistent portals of information for parents and students in these grades and what most classes are familiar with or using. Teachers will be uploading slides for each week of learning. Within these slides the students will be directed to other platforms of learning i.e. Google classroom or Seesaw Work Book Tasks.
Zoom facilitates real-time online communication and collaboration with teachers and students.
Zoom provides:
video and voice communication
text chat
interactive whiteboard, screen sharing and annotation.
Through Zoom, teachers can offer real-time online lessons for students.
At all times teachers will maintain a consistent school routine. Communication to parents will include advice that will support these routines. This includes but is not limited to establishment of an area for daily learning, the wearing of comfortable, appropriate clothing and the establishment of work hours and schedules.
Kindergarten, Years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 - Seesaw
Work for these grades will be done through Seesaw.
Students will access work through their Seesaw journal.
Year 6: Seesaw and GOOGLE classroom
Work for this grade will be accessed through Seesaw and Google Classroom. Students will access their work through both platforms.
With our school moving to online learning, as a supervising adult you will be more a facilitator rather than a replacement teacher. Our school will provide learning materials for your child to work through.
Therefore if your child is finding a particular task difficult, be available to make suggestions and answer questions, but try to let them do things themselves as much as possible.
If you don’t know the answer, work with your child to discover a solution. Let your child, where possible, self regulate–that is to take control of their own learning and not rely on you.
Self-rating after a task or session, to critically reflect on their own learning performance, can encourage your child to be more responsible for their own learning and helps to develop their judgmental skills. Consider a reward / monitoring chart to keep up motivation and recording of progress.
