Ideas for English Activities

Letters and Sounds - Phase 2 and 3 Revision

Please refer to the Phase 2 and 3 revision sent to you via Seesaw. Please practice these words, phonemes and graphemes each day. Suggested activities for practice of these words, phonemes and graphemes are:

• making the words/graphemes out of play-doh

• sound talking (sounding out)

• sound walking (the children can demonstrate this to you)

• writing them out in shaving cream on a table

• writing them with chalk on the ground

• using magnetic letters

Reading - Bug Club

Please read each day with your child using Bug Club. Suggested activities include:

• Review the sounds and tricky words inside the front cover before reading the book

• Select the 'R

Writing - Narratives

• Read a narrative from home - identify with your child the orientation, complication and resolution.

• Write an orientation to your own story.

• Write a complication to your story.

• Write a resolution to your story.

Ideas for Maths Activities

• Skip count by 2's, 3's, 5's, 10's, 100's

• Write number sentences for numbers 1-10

• Counting backwards from 30-1.

• Counting backwards by 2's, 5's and 10's from 100-1.

• Writing numbers 1-30 as numerals and in words.

• Drawing place value charts and partitioning numbers into hundreds, tens and ones.
