Amber Flag

The Pieta Amber Flag Initiative recognises the individual efforts of primary and secondary schools, youthreach, third level institutions, community groups and clubs to create healthy, inclusive environments that support mental well-being.

Uniting these groups in their efforts, working together toward a happier, healthier Ireland and eradicate the stigmas associated with mental health issues.

Positivity 2021/22

Pass on the Positivity

Each pupil wrote a positive message on a fluorescent star. Messages were displayed on the school windows. Each week two representatives from each class choose a positive message to focus on for the week.

Brothers of Charity

Letters to Brother of Charity

For Christmas and to foster links with the local community the student leaders organised the pupils to write a letter and Christmas Card to the residents of the Brothers of Charity. It was a very humbling experience when the Student Leaders were afforded the opportunity of handing over the cards to the residents on Dec 14th.

Movie Day

Fundraiser

On Friday October 22nd the pupils of Doon CBS had a Movie Day to celebrate Halloween.

In doing so they contributed to Pieta House and a cheque for €230 has been forwarded. Well done to the Amber School Committee for organising this.

Well - Being Day 2022

Mindfulness Walking

Walking - Good for the body and soul!!

Máirt Meabhrach

Once a month we have Mindful Tuesdays. Each class dedicates time in their day to meditate mindfully. The school day can be a busy one and this gives our pupils time to focus on the present moment and cheek in with themselves, There is also no homework on this night and pupils are encouraged to get away from technology and participate in an activity with their family. Some activities include baking, playing a board game, going swimming and painting.

School Clubs

We host a variety of lunch time and after school activities to give each child the opportunity to perform in an area that interests them whilst developing their skills eg- Gaeilic, Basketball, Spikeball, Cookery, Board games and Coding

Staff Well Being

A culture of well-being is fostered in the school and is a priority for School Management. It is the belief that the staff can only fully support the children well-being when they firstly look after themselves. We have many initiatives and events to encourage staff to look after themselves and check in with colleagues.
