Dear Parents/ Guardians,

‘Aoibhinn beatha an scoláire!’ How swiftly time flies? Another year nearly complete for your son at the CBS.

It has been a very successful year for all our pupils socially and academically.

Some of the highlights for the pupils when asked were Peace Proms, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Active Schools Week, Baking Club, Draughts League, Cycling, Farm Visit, U.L. Academy for Children, Visit from David Gillick and of course procedural writing- I think this was because they were allowed to eat the produce!

Some other achievements and important announcements are detailed below.

Amber Flag: The Amber Flag Committee has been awarded the Amber Flag for their promotion of Mental Health. This is our first Amber Flag. Well done to all involved and thanks to SNA Mary Campbell Ryan who coordinated this project.

6th Class: I would like to wish our 11 pupils finishing from the CBS later this month all the best in their futures, Emmanuel Aloba, Oliver Bosek, Shane Connolly, Roy Collins, Diarmuid Crowe, Liam Dore Barry, Colin Dunne, Pádraig Hanley, Daniel Heffernan Orr, Logan Hunt and Dominic Ryan. A special prayer service will be celebrated in the school on Friday June 17th at 11a.m. All parents and relatives are welcome to attend.

School Reports and Booklists can be collected from the school gate on Thursday June 9th from 9a.m. to 9.15a.m and from 3p.m. to 3.10p.m. Booklists for each class level are available on the school website along with the school calendar.

School lunches will cease for this school year on Friday June 10th. I find as the school year comes to a close many pupils opt out of the scheme.Hopefully we will be granted funding for the school meals programme next year.

School Payments:

Class Payments for all classes

Art/Photocopying/ Book Rental €45

School Insurance €9

Peter Pan Panto €15

This can be paid on the week we return to school. A link will be sent to your phone before we return.

School Sports Day will take place on Wednesday June 15th. Pupils are asked to wear their team colours.

School League Final will take place at the GAA field on Friday June 17th at 1.30p.m. Lots of parental support for the two teams would be greatly appreciated.

Tracksuit Fitting Day with ID Sports will take place at the school on Saturday, June 25th. Click on the link to book your slot. https://idsportshop.com/products/doon-cbs-fitting-saturday-the-25th-of-june

Suggested Reading Lists for the Summer months are available on the school website. I would strongly recommend for your son to continue reading over the Summer- 20 mins every day. Keeping a diary every week is a lovely way of recording their holidays.

Return to School: School will reopen for all classes on Monday August 29th at 9.15a.m.

Social Media: Remember to follow the school Twitter page @dunbleiscecbs and the school website www.dooncbs.com for live updates on school events. The booklists and school calendar can be accessed on the website also.

Wishing you and your family a safe and enjoyable Summer break.

Thank you for your continued support of the school.

Le Gach Dea Ghuí,

Siobhán Ní Bhraoin
