A research project about how the dance industry and social media influence each other
Created by Laura Stevenson
In the last few years, social media has made a significant change to the dance world. YouTube, Instagram, and Tik Tok have all served as main platforms for dancers in the dance industry to share their art, market themselves, and gain opportunities. Social media has opened the door for non-dancers to be apart of the dance world on an international level. As much as social media has helped the dance industry and dance culture has taken over social media, there are a few drawbacks to this merge. This project compiles all the research I have found on how dance and social media have intertwined and what the effects of this are.
