Salvador "Sal" Chávez is a first generation Mexican-American and college student from Mountain View, CA. He is a double alumnus from Dominican University of California. Sal completed the 4+1 BS/MS occupational therapy program and graduated with his bachelor's of science in health science in 2016 and master's of science in occupational therapy in 2017. He currently works as a senior occupational therapist at El Camino Health, a non-profit, community-based hospital in Santa Clara County, working with adults battling mental health issues at Scrivner Center for Mental Health & Addiction Services. Sal recently graduated last year with his second master's in healthcare administration & interprofessional leadership from the University of California, San Francisco, and hopes to work as a lead/supervising OT in the future as well as pursue his doctorate. Sal is the current president of the Alumni Board of Directors at Dominican and continues to serve the OT department as a clinical instructor, guest speaker and as a member of the OT Advisory Council. Sal is passionate about mentoring first-generation college students, advocating for OT, and advancing the work and representation of latine in academics and healthcare.
