Welcome to Dominican College Past Pupils’ Union website.
Union members were past pupils of Dominican College and Scoil Chaitríona, Eccles Street and the new colleges Dominican College, Griffith Avenue and Scoil Chaitríona, Bothar Mobhí.
The main purposes of the Union were to bring past pupils together by means of social activities and to promote social services especially for those less fortunate living in North Dublin inner city.
In 2014, to celebrate the Centenary of the founding of the Union, this Website was created to capture a brief history of the Dominican schools, and create an archive of the many activities, photographs and memories of past pupils so that this social history can be easily accessible to those interested in women’s studies and social affairs.
Sadly, in 2020 the Union was disbanded. Thanks to Dr Olive Laffoy and staff of Dominican College Griffith Avenue the DCPPU Website will continue into the future, and can now be accessed via a link on the website of Dominican College Griffith Avenue.
On my behalf and on behalf of all past pupils I sincerely thank the Dominican Sisters, the College Principals and all the teachers for their total dedication to the education of young girls (soon to be the women of Ireland) over so many generations since 1882.
