Financial Wellness - Satisfaction with current and future financial situations.
Financial wellness is about living within your means and feeling good about your current and future financial health habits. Financial well-being is intertwined with physical and emotional health. Chronic worry over money may interfere with sleep, cause depression and/or anxiety and lead to other ailments.
Do you feel your debts are payable (not overwhelming), you have a substantial emergency fund and adequate retirement funds? How about needs vs. wants – can you control spending habits? If you feel you need to get "financially fit" then consider exercising your money matter muscle!
Focus in one area of most need, such as: Managing current debt, building an emergency fund or saving for the future. One area to reflect is an examination of any out of control spending habits. Similar to overeating, over-spending may have an emotional causative factor. Evaluate what may be behind the urge buy too many "wants" over needs. The best way to begin is to write down not only what you buy, but why you spend on a monthly basis. Knowing why may be the best way to start and stay successful for the long-term.
