Muddy area formed by mangrove trees. Mangrove trees have special roots that allow them to survive well in such a habitat where the amount of oxygen is low. The roots of these mangrove trees is usually the first thing people notice when you mention, "Mangrove!"
May be quite dark (light may be blocked by mangrove trees)
Usually flooded (see pictures)
Water is usually muddy (brackish) and SALTY
Muddy water is also poor in oxygen (little amount of oxygen)
Watch the video on the left and think of how amazing these mangrove forests/ swamps are! Also, how many animals and plants are you able to observe from the videos? You can jot them down in your activity book! You can also look at the pictures I have provided you with to see if you can spot these animals the next time you visit a mangrove swamp!
