Cultural Groups

| Camerata

CAMERATA is the college choir of DMMMSU. A choral ensemble featuring the outstanding vocal skills of its student members. The group uses their music to promote and protect Filipino heritage. They also act as ambassadors of goodwill by spreading positivity through music. The group hopes to promote peace and harmony among its ranks and between its members and the proper authorities. In addition, the organization seeks to help its members improve their singing and preserve the ideals, honor, and reputation of DMMMSU.

Membership is open to all interested college students of DMMMSU-SLUC with pleasing personality, good moral character, and good voice quality and shall pass the audition which will be conducted by the trainer, adviser, and senior members.

Bonafide members for at least one (1) semester are eligible to apply for scholarship via the organization. The scholarship provides free tuition fees and will be renewed every semester with the condition that the member did not get any failing grades, incomplete grades, or dropped subjects.

CAMERATA was established in 2017 and is very active in joining and winning choral competitions in the region and in the nationals. The organization also hosted various seminars on singing and has performed at different events outside and around the university.


Dancesports League

The Dancesports League focuses on training the talents of students in dancesport, formerly known as competitive ballroom dancing. The name dancesport was adopted to reflect the growing acceptance of the activity as a legitimate sport. Physical prowess, nimbleness, coordination, endurance, fitness, teamwork, grace, style, and musical interpretation are all hallmarks.

The organization's goals include enhancing the skills of its members and promoting harmony among the members and the rest of the student body, faculty, administration, and community. Another goal is aspiring to train future dance professionals in genres like ballroom and modern dance. A second is to instill a sense of discipline among the club's leaders and regular members. Lastly, to provide an outlet for those interested in developing their dance skills.

Since its establishment in 2009, the SLUC Dancesport League has hosted many different seminar-workshops and competed in a wide range of tournaments, including the annual Dancesports League Free Seminar-Workshop.


| Golden Youth Cultural Group

The purpose of this club shall be: (a) apply a variety of value systems, aesthetics, and approaches to performing; (b) develop a multifaceted physicality through training in dance techniques; and (c) nurture inclusive community through dance.


| DMMMSU-SLUC BAND

DMMMSU-SLUC MUSIC BAND aims is to perform as many musical works as possible of the highest possible quality. The organization seeks to reach as many people as possible through concerts and community mentorship initiatives. They intend to make a permanent difference in the lives of the locals by bringing music to them.

Members are open to everyone who believes in the group's goals and objectives and is interested in taking part in its activities. Anyone with an interest in music, including current students, instructors, staff, and graduates of DMMMSU, are qualified to join. There will be three tiers of membership: active members (those who have been in the society for at least two semesters), new members (those who have recently joined the society), and imports (those from outside the society who have been invited based on their outstanding performances). Each of the three kinds of membership is assessed according to its own set of criteria.

| Northern Chorus

The organization promotes the exchange of ideas and knowledge about music, improve the skills of students in singing and enhance to appreciate the importance of music in everyday life. It creates strong bond between the teacher and the adviser to represent the campus in the different programs. It promotes camaraderie and unity among its members as they work and sing in harmony.


The objectives of the organization shall be to: (a) Promote unity, equality, discipline, and professionalism among the members and officers of the organization;(b) Expose its members to various activities that will enhance their creativity , resourcefulness and self-esteem; (c) Provide opportunities for the members to meet and exchange information ideas and experiences; (d) Promote, foster and encourage camaraderie among members; (e) Plan and implement activities for the benefit of the members.


| Sulu ng Filipino

The objectives of the association shall be to: (a) provide opportunities for the members to meet and exchange information, ideas and experiences; (b) promote, foster and encourage camaraderie among members; (c) plan and implement activities for the benefit of the members; and extend assistance to any member towards the attainment of the objectives of the association.


| Gintayaw

Gintayaw is dedicated to helping students improve their dancing skills, building their confidence through positive experiences, encouraging them to find a healthy balance between school and extracurricular activities, and teaching them various dance styles, with an emphasis on Philippine folk dances.

Students at DMMMSU-SLUC who are interested in joining the club must first go through an audition and selection procedure. Qualified members are required to have no failing grades in two subjects in a semester, no record of misbehavior, and actively participating to the organization’s activities.

Beginning in June 2008, when it was officially established as a student organization, SaliwLahi has been an integral element of many campus events and activities, including both participation and performance.

| La Danza Filipiniana

The objective of La Danza Filipiniana is to cultivate a respect for and knowledge of Filipino folk dance, as well as to promote and encourage such dance both within and outside the DMMMSU-SLUC Community.

Anyone who is a part of the DMMMSU community may sign up for an active membership. There will be two types of club members: active members, or those who actively participate in the club's activities, and special members, or those who take an interest in the club's activities and are invited to join in them by the Executive Committee.

Both inside and outside of DMMMSU, La Danza Filipiniana has participated in and performed at a variety of events.


| Samahan ng Mag-aaral sa Filipino (SAMAFIL)

Promotes national and native languages in students, faculty, and alumni as well as to serve as a training ground for the future of BS Filipino graduates.


| Pen and Scroll Guild of DMMMSU-MLUC

Provides activities for AB English students to learn and practive the English language.
