Mrs. Shea Servidio-Peia, or “Miss S”, has been part of Catholic education her entire life, attending Catholic school from preschool through college. She earned her B.A. in International Studies, with a concentration in European Affairs, and a minor in Philosophy from Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus. Previously, she taught Personal Finance and Business, Algebra I, and Media & Communication at Morris Catholic High School. Shea is thrilled to be back in the classroom, where she can combine her love of learning with her commitment to helping students grow both academically and spiritually.
Hometown: Rockaway, NJ
I like working in Catholic education because… Divine Mercy Academy has its own beautiful culture of faculty dedicated to their students’ well-being, parents who are involved and encouraging, and students who strive for their personal bests.
Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy is grounded in magis—the pursuit of “more”—encouraging each student to strive for greater knowledge, skills, and personal growth. I blend structured instruction with engaging exploration, using clear daily plans, guided notes, and practical applications of math and technology to support diverse learners. Students set personal goals at the year’s start and reflect on their progress at the end, while assessments measure both mastery and effort through tests, participation, organization, and overall effort. I adapt instruction to meet class needs, providing additional support or resources when necessary, with the ultimate aim of preparing students not only academically but also socially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically for future success.
