Module 3A
Building a culture of tech in your school
Explore the challenges of bringing other staff on board to build a culture of tech in your school:
creating a vision that inspires and drives effective use of ICT at your school,
determining the team members to develop your institutions, aims and objectives,
considering evaluation frameworks such as SAMR and TPaCK or Blooms Digital Taxonomy ,
pondering what leaders need to know and be able to do to support teachers’ needs.

Briefly consider your own school. Do you have a clearly articulated vision, well known to staff, students and the school community?
What would be some takeaways from this presentation for you?
What resource might motivate your staff to integrate digitech into their teaching and learning programs?
Can you identify the blockers to your aims and how might you work with staff to overcome their reluctance?
This module's activity helps you to evaluate an area of your school / institution using a pedagogical model of your choice.
The area you choose could be a faculty, year level team or another cohort. It could also be an individual teacher or yourself.
Start by exploring at least two of the pedagogical models below (click headings for more info).
TPaCK is a way of describing how technology, pedagogy and content knowledge fit together and indeed, overlap to enable powerful learning. As the TPaCK diagram shows, the overlap creates 6 areas in total with the ‘sweet spot’ combining all three.
SAMR is an acronym for a model of technology use developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura, describing a progression in the use of technology in classrooms.
There are many other learning frameworks you could consider:
Next, use one of the tables at right to begin to evaluate where your chosen team or cohort sits in the use of technology.
