In the southwest of Metro Manila, A Hidtorical barngay was located. A 3912 acres, the largest barangay in the city of Calamba. Known as a Industrialized zone with all the companies and factories that located in canlubang. Like other places canlubang had humble beginings to see what it is today
Canlubang started in 1600's. A place for Chinese oriental people. Under the Domincan and Jesuit they claimed the area when the country ws colonized by the Spanish government. When the Americans came canlubang was Given more business opportunities which is canlubang the home of sugar cane and coconut plantations sicen then the place and the industry grew as well the communitiy.
After spain Leave the Philippines to the government of USA the americans grasp the business opportunities in the said area. American business men bought canlubang a 12,000 hectare friar land from the government and named it Calamba Sugar Estate as pinoneer of sugar mill industry in the philippines and became second central in the philippines. Because of the upcomming war the land was auctioned to Mr. Vicente Madrigal after the war ended Mr. Madrigal sold the Canlubang Sugar Estate to his friend and Lawyer, Mr. Jose Yulo and his wife Mrs Cecilia Araneta Yulo and Manage the Estate. The yulos continued to manage the business and build more facilities aside from sugar and coconut business. Through the years the Hacienda or Barangay today reaching 912 hectares with 70,000 people mix from the old hacienda and those who migrated. Canlubang industry has transformed into industiral park with over 43 companines.
Bario
The enterprise was named as the second Sugar Central of the country. The business started to produce sugar on December 1 1914, producing total of 93,068 piculs or 5,628,657.9 kilograms of sugar. There are over 250,000 trees, more or less in the western side of the hacienda. There were a total of 12.5 million coconuts produced per year.
Before the world II Americans and Filipinos once lived in Canlubang. Ther americans provided facilities for them and for their Filipino workers. They built markets, houses for their workers and other facilities. Its was open to the employess and residents. The americans provided bar, table games, outdoor pool and a 9 hole golf course. The filipino workers also loved cock fighting (sabong) that entertained the americans.

Mr. Jose Yulo
From afar would see that he is one amongst the many who started from rags to riches. By his determination He obtained his Bachelor Laws degree at the University of the Philippines and placed third in bar. He graduated at the age of 19. He became a chief justice in 1942 to 1945. He ran for president in 1957 but was not elected. Aside from being a lawyer he was also a businessman
He is a good friend of Vicente Madrigal who sold Canlubang to Jose Yulo. Jose Yulo was unsure for accepting the offer because the country is still recovering from World War II.
After the sale, the Sugar Estate developed and improved by Don Jose Yulo's efforts. He built schools, cinemas, baseball field and more for the people of canlubang.
During 1960's with 3 crop plantations, 3 manufacuring companies both meat and poultry farms. Over 3,935 hectares of sugar cane, 29,748,099.3 kilograms anualy, 2,468 hectares of coconut plantation producing 13,000,00 coconuts annually and the smallest 600 hectare coffee plantation producing 30,000 kg of coffee beans does indeed make Canlubang a formidable ang huge Hacienda. Also shows the effectiveness of Canlubang's industry that is brought through out our country by the efforts of the Yulos and their hard working employees.
In 1967 the 3,122 employees has average salary of 12.12 pesos 4 - 8 pesos higher than minimum wage and rice subsidy for their families. The employees also has benefits of Housing with utilities and salary, Rice, Hospitalization, food when hospitalized and annual physical checkup
Children were encourage to play in sports which is led to the built of Canluubang Baseball Field, Golf Course and Bowling alleys. In the week ends and holidays free movies were showed in outdoor cinemas on special occasions.
