I am hosting a second round of the Battle of the Books (BOB) Club because the Glenview Public Library has made significant changes to the program that has been running for the last 30+ years. The new qualification round is on February 15, 2024, and the new Final Battle will be on March 2, 2024. 4th and 5th graders are encouraged to form teams of six to read books and memorize details to test their knowledge/memory of the books. During the Battle of the Books club, we will talk about the books we are reading, strategize ways to remember details from the books and host mini-competitions against each other. Students in 5th grade are invited to participate on Mondays for 8 weeks starting January 8th (the first Monday after winter break), through March 1st.  Students in 4th grade are invited to participate on Tuesdays for 8 weeks (January 9th-March 1st). We will meet in the library after school until 4:20.

Students in second through fifth grade can join  Sports Club! Sessions will be once a week after school for one hour from 3:20 pm-4:20 pm. Second and third graders will be participating on Tuesdays.  Fourth and fifth graders will be participating on Thursdays. Hope to see you there!

Fourth and fifth grade Sports Club starts on January 18 and ends on March 14.  There will be no club on Feb. 22.

Your iPad can take incredible photos - come learn how with Mrs. Stump! We will explore some of the fundamentals of photography, how to set up that “great pic”,  and get to know some of the cool editing tools that your iPad has to create some fantastic photos. 

The Winter Session will be open to Willowbrook 3-5th graders, with the culmination of their work displayed for everyone to enjoy. 

Photography Club meets in the library on Tuesdays from 3:20-4:20 p.m.  Club begins on January 23 and ends on March 12.

The Rock Band Club is the most rocking, bass thumping, guitar thrashing, drop the mic singing, amplified fun at Willowbrook School! This club will be available to a limited number of 4th and 5th graders. 

We will meet on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Each Rock Band Club session will end with a performance for the whole school at a Friday Flag Raising!

4th Grade Session: 1/23, 1/24, 1/25, 1/30, 1/31, 2/1, 2/6, 2/7, and a Flag Raising Performance on 2/9.

5th Grade Session: 2/13, 2/14, 2/15, 2/27, 2/28, 2/29, 3/5, 3/6, and a Flag Raising Performance on 3/8.

Do you love using technology? Are you someone who loves to collaborate with others, create awesome projects, and try new things with iPads? Then you should join the Willowbrook Tech Club! Some of the fun we will have will be making slideshows, digital projects, and stories. As we work on the iPads, the students have the opportunity to learn how to upload projects into a digital journal, using voice, images, and video. Students will participate in coding, and enhance iPad, and app skills by using tools such as Stop Motion, Pic Collage, Apple Clips, iMovie, Canva, Pebble Go, interactive Google Slides, Augmented Reality with Quiver, and many more! 

• Fourth and Fifth graders will meet for 10 sessions. 

• We will start on Wednesday, December 20th with winter break days off, and Feb 21st off.  

• Our last session will be on Wednesday, February 28th. 

• Note: We will also meet for two days on a Thursday in February. 

• The session will meet in the Library from 3:20-4:20 pm.

Parents will need to make arrangements for their child’s transportation to be picked up no later than 4:20 pm in front of the school. Space is limited to 20 students. Enrollment will be chosen on a lottery basis!
