Meet the Directors

Mrs. January Muetz

Hi! I'm January Muetz, and I've been teaching at Woodland since 2004. I received my undergrad in music education from University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, and my masters in Administration from Aurora University. Clarinet is my main instrument, but I enjoy playing all of the instruments in band.

When I am not teaching band, I can be found at the gym coaching CrossFit or working out. I enjoy spending time outdoors, riding bikes with my family, boating and wakeboarding, and catching the smallest fish when we visit my parent's cabin in Northern Wisconsin. I have so many favorite foods it is hard to narrow down, although Mrs. Dorgan and I do share a love for sushi and Gurnee Donuts.

I have two daughters, a junior who plays the tuba and an 9th grader who plays the french horn.    I look forward to seeing you all this fall for band!

Mrs. Emily Dorgan

Hello! I'm Emily Dorgan and I've been teaching at Woodland Intermediate since 2008.  I went to the University of Illinois for my undergraduate degree in Music Education and then to Northeastern Illinois University for my Masters Degree in Administration.  I have played the piano since I was in 1st grade, and then when I joined band in 6th grade I learned to play the trombone.

I love to bake, and Mrs. Muetz often will help taste test my creations when I bring them into school.  My favorite hobby is raising monarch butterflies.  So in the summer you can usually find me exploring native plant trails around the area or working in my garden.  My favorite foods are sushi and chili.

I have two kids, so they also keep me busy!  My daughter is in 5th grade and plays the trombone also, and my son is in 1st grade.  I love 80's rock, and I really like to dance- (even though I'm not so good at that!)  I can't wait to make music with you this fall!
