Summer Camps are a wonderful way for students to keep their chops fresh and stay involved in music-making during the summer while school is out. It is very highly recommended to attend a summer music camp! These camps are all extremely musically rewarding, and also allow students to meet musicians from other schools and make new friends.
Below is a list of some summer camps available to middle school students. This list is not exhaustive, but should help with beginning your search for summer music camps!
- Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp - Twin Lake, MI
- Illinois State University (ISU) Junior High Band Camp - Bloomington-Normal (on the Illinois State University campus)
- Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) - Urbana-Champaign (on the University of Illinois campus)
- Interlochen Summer Arts Camp - Interlochen, MI
- Merit School of Music Summer Camp - Chicago
- Midwest Young Artists (MYA) Summer Programs - Highwood
- Northern Illinois University (NIU) Jazz Camp - DeKalb
- While not available to most PG students due to age restrictions, it is open to students as early as the summer before they begin high school.
