Resource Math

Students in this Resource Math classroom are receiving instruction with materials from both Number Worlds and the grade general education curriculum when and where appropriate. "Number Worlds provides instruction for students​ who are one to two grade levels behind their peers​ in mathematics. Daily lesson activities emphasize​using communication, logic, reasoning, modeling,​ tools, precision, structure, and patterns to solve​ problems." 

Math Classroom Norms

1. To be successful this school year in math, we need to put in EFFORT, create a positive workspace, and have a growth mindset. In math, we may not always know the answer right away.  We learn by asking questions, making mistakes, explaining our thinking, and trying different strategies.

2. We value respectfulness, kindness, and helpfulness. We help one another as mathematicians and celebrate different ways of thinking and solving problems, which allows us to see different perspectives from our peers.

3. We listen when others are speaking and wait our turn to add to the discussion, as all students’ mathematical thinking has value.

4. Math is everywhere and is part of our everyday lives. We use math to make decisions, solve problems, recognize patterns, understand the world around us, and make sense of information. In our classroom, we will learn to see math not just as numbers and equations, but as a way of thinking and making sense of the world.
