Chicago History Museum

On Monday, May 22nd, Mrs. Hovey's third grade class took a trip to the Chicago History Museum. At the museum, the students learned about the Chicago Fire, and the culture and history of the city of Chicago.

We took a class called "Painted Memories" which explored two artists impressions of the Chicago fire.

We chose a part of the painting from "Memories of the Chicago Fire" and later reenacted what we thought the moments of the fire were like.

This exhibit explains how women were treated in schools in Chicago during the 1800's.

Interactive Flag. We decided what could make up the fifth star on the flag of Chicago.

The real bed that Abraham Lincoln died on. He was too tall to lay down the correct way in this bed, so he had to lay diagonally across the bed.

Skyscraper Activity. We each got skyscraper cut outs and placed them in order from the oldest to the newest building constructed in Chicago.
