Letter to Families - 3/18/2020

Dear Parents,

We know these next weeks are going to be challenging for many reasons. We hope to make this situation easier by providing you with daily assignments that will keep the children on track. We have set up what is called Google Classroom. You are able to access this through your child’s email address (these were just created and you will get more information soon), where all assignments will be posted and tracked online. This is one hub we hope to be user friendly where we can all be connected these next few weeks. The workbooks and papers that will be sent home will also aid your child in completing these assignments.

For reading, there will be a daily read aloud with some questions about the book. We will give you links to watch the video of the book, or a link to watch one of your teachers read the book! There will also be pages sent home for students to complete based on skills they will need each week. Please do not feel like you need to complete all the work as soon as possible! We are sending home pages to last the next four weeks. Google Classroom, our weekly emails, and newsletters will let you know what to work on each week.

For math, we will be sending home the pages we normally complete in class. These are easy to work through. We are looking at ways to provide you with videos and links to assist with this. Again, Google Classroom and our weekly emails will give you move information.

We do not want you to feel overwhelmed by the work we are suggesting. Please do what you can and email us with any questions. Please know that all of you are in our thoughts during this time. We will miss our students so much!

For Thursday and Friday of this week, we have only two assignments:

Reading - take a picture of your child reading and submit it to Google Classrooms

Social and Emotional - Ms. Tes will have a video of a book to watch and complete a short drawing response, and mark it as complete in Google Classrooms.

More information is coming! You will be receiving several emails from us, as well as the KDHSA team, concerning technology use, upcoming assignments, and well being check ins. We just wanted to give you an overview of our plan going forward. Please focus on your families and know that we are here for you!

Let us know if you have any questions!

Thanks,

Rivertown Team
