Teacher Tag Days are full-day, interdisciplinary field experiences where students rotate through Discovery Zones. Each grade-level program integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art (Agriculture & Animation), and Math (Music & Media) with clear Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) alignment.

Early Childhood

Theme: Seasons of Discovery

Science: Watch a cloud “rain” inside a jar, then make your own weather sensory bottle.
Technology: Touch-table storybook where animals prepare for winter.
Engineering: Build a shelter for a stuffed animal with blocks, ramps, and natural objects.
Art (Agriculture & Animation): Plant a seed cup to take home and illustrate its life cycle.
Math (Music & Media): Clap and stomp patterns to match numbers — end with a “weather orchestra.”

3rd Grade

Theme: Pyramids, Pulleys, and Patterns

Science: Test how different weights affect your catapult launch — compete for distance!
Technology: Step inside the Pyramids of Giza with VR headsets.
Engineering: Build pulley systems to “move” pyramid blocks like ancient engineers.
Art (Agriculture & Animation): Create papyrus scroll art + compare ancient farming tools with modern hydroponics.
Math (Music & Media): Use rhythm claps to solve multiplication patterns, then play “chess math” puzzles.

✨ Wonder moment: standing inside a virtual pyramid, then building a system like real Egyptian engineers.

6th Grade

Theme: Energy in Motion

Science: Fire an air cannon and measure energy transfer with moving targets.
Technology: Use Merge Cubes to see energy flow in 3D, then code a simple simulation.
Engineering: Work in teams to design and test a working hydroponic model using a marble run..
Art (Agriculture & Animation): Make a stop-motion animation showing energy transfer (domino chain or rolling marble run).
Math (Music & Media): Use music loops to explore ratios — build beats that “double” or “half” to match math.
