Rhonda Adorno is the founder of the Discovery Center at Stony Point and the visionary behind Discovery Chess, LLC. With over 15 years of professional experience in education, program development, and business leadership, she has built her career around creating transformational learning opportunities.
Rhonda holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Design & Technology and a degree from Rollins College, giving her a strong academic foundation to bridge curriculum, digital innovation, and applied learning. She has taught both in-person as an English teacher at One School of the Arts and virtually to international students via Outschool, giving her a rare blend of classroom, virtual, and global teaching experience.

Launching multi-tier school chess programs
Partnering with over 30 schools and organizations in Richmond to establish leagues, summer camps, and enrichment programs.
Driving AI literacy and digital school readiness, helping schools explore how to integrate cutting-edge technology into curriculum design.
Designing STEAM and interdisciplinary programs showcased in Scholastic Book Fairs, STEAM Expos, and large-scale themed events.
Director of Business Development
Khjyetta “Coach Kay” Singleton is the managing partner and Director of Business Development at the Discovery Center at Stony Point™, where she leads partnerships, external engagement, and innovative program design. She plays a key role in positioning the Center as a scalable educational solution that bridges schools, families, and community organizations.
Kay holds a degree in English Literature and is currently completing her studies in Information Technology & Cloud Computing. This unique combination allows her to blend strong communications expertise with emerging technical knowledge, ensuring Discovery Center programs remain both relevant and future-ready.
Her career spans leadership roles across business development, healthcare, and education, where she has consistently excelled in building relationships, designing systems, and scaling programs. She is also deeply rooted in community education, having served as Director of Research Development at Finding Empowerment Through Education (2012–2015). There, she launched STEM-focused after-school programs, secured community partnerships, and helped establish the Life Sciences Academy, a tuition-free school with a hands-on STEM curriculum.
