Packing List

Brazil is marked by highly varied climates. It goes from the humidity of the Amazon Region, the dry heat of the Northeastern region and the permanently pleasant warm weather of most of the coastal area, to cool evening temperatures in many parts of the plateau and a temperate climate in the South. The seasons in Brazil, are the opposite way round to the Northern Hemisphere seasons of Europe and the United States. The medium annual temperature is 28°C in the North and 20°C in the South. During the months of May and June, in Rio de Janeiro, the average temperature is 25°C.

Suggested Packing List: 

Clothing:

•   Rain Coat ( At this time of year, downpours  can occur, so a raincoat might be a good extra item to consider. )

•   A jacket is recommended as many places have strong air conditioning

•   Gym / sportswear (for outdoor activities)

•   Bathing suits

•   Shorts 

•   Hat

•   One pair of flip flops / sandals / water shoes

•   One pair of closed toed comfortable walking shoes    

• Sun glasses                   

Bath / Personal:

•   Personal medication

•   Anti-diarrheal medication

•   Glasses / contacts / contact solution, if applicable

•   Personal toiletries (If you have certain items that you absolutely need, bring enough to last until you return home. Don't forget to bring gender specific hygienic products). Pack of kleenex for public restroom stops.

•  Sunscreen with a high UV

•  Insect repellent (Note: As this is a tropical country, mosquitos are present throughout the year, especially during the rainy season) 

Other:

•   One refillable water bottle

•  Small bag (during carnival days, a banana bag style is an excellent option to keep your personal belongings safe)

•   Books and/or magazines

•   Watch or small alarm clock

•   Light day bag or pack (small backpack would be ideal)

•   Sunglasses

•   Personal snacks that you may need or crave (such as granola bars or power bars).  We provide all stated meals;    however, some have particular dietary/health needs.

•  Water proof Disposable camera, film camera or digital camera - and film or memory card(s) for digital camera

*The electric current in most of Brazil is 110 V. The type N socket and plug are the official standard in Brazil. Type C plugs are also official, but not type C sockets. Many hotels have adaptors if necessary, although it is recommended to bring your own travel adaptors.
