Becoming a parent of a child with a disability often brings a weight you didn’t choose — and rarely feel free to name.
Many parents carry deep love alongside quiet overwhelm. Decisions arrive quickly. Opinions arrive even faster. Somewhere in between, you’re expected to stay strong, informed, hopeful, and certain.
You may be:
feeling alone in decisions others don’t fully understand
overwhelmed by schooling options, inclusion or segregation debates, and long-term planning
unsure what disability-related entitlements your child or family may qualify for
carrying fear about your child’s future while trying not to let that fear define it
questioning your own assumptions, biases, or sense of adequacy as a parent
Coaching in this space is not about telling you what to do, or positioning anyone as an expert over your child.
It is about having a neutral and supportive space to:
think clearly without pressure or judgement
reflect on values, hopes, and fears
make sense of complex information and choices
explore schooling, inclusion, and future career possibilities
build language and confidence for conversations with schools, professionals, and family
I work as a coach, not as a therapist, counsellor, medical practitioner, or legal advisor. I do not provide medical guidance or treatment advice.
What I do bring is decades of experience working alongside children with disabilities, families, educators, and systems, and the ability to support parents to think, reflect, and decide with care rather than fear.
“This space helped me slow down. I stopped reacting to everyone else’s panic and started trusting my own thinking again.”
This is paid coaching work. It asks for a willingness to invest time, energy, and resources in thoughtful reflection, and to honour that investment.
If you are seeking clinical intervention, medical advice, or free services, I may not be the right person — and I say this with deep understanding of the economic pressures many families of children with disabilities face.
If you are looking for a steady, respectful space to think through responsibility, uncertainty, and possibility, you are welcome to reach out.
