Even though each school is different, they all have similar dress codes. The typical clothing for boys were overalls or shirts and pants. For girls, it would be a white dress. Some of the dresses had paterns and others were plain.
Indian children were forced to give up their traditional clothing in place with clothing that they were not accustom with. Although a lot of schools did this, some allowed the kids to wear their own cloths.
If students were caught with their traditional clothing or with feathers in their hair, they were punished. Some were isolated from other kids, some kids had to cut the grass with scissors. Some boys were forced to march around in girl's dresses for punishments.
