Gio is a Philippine-born Australian writer. He completed his BA and Honours in Anthropology at the University of Sydney, where he wrote his honours thesis on how everyday Filipino diasporic food practices reproduce ‘Filipino-ness’ in Australia.
His essay, ‘Bawal ba; the (un)forbidden fruit,’ was published in the anthology "The Calamansi Story."
He currently works as a freelance editor and writer, while daydreaming about what his characters would do in certain real-life situations. His fiction draws on his lifelong love of epic fantasy and his interest in the history and cultures of the precolonial Philippines.
