On the Road: Driving Dreams Forward
On the Road: Driving Dreams Forward
During Community Month, we celebrate our community, the heart of everything we do.
Through Every Day Better Stories - our way to inspire and connect you with these characters, showcasing their stories and how our work is touching lives - and On The Road - a project that since 2020 has been traveling across IBG regions to gather partners' stories - we celebrate the people who move, pay, deliver, and eat with us.
These are more than journeys — they are stories of resilience and community. Join us in honoring their dedication, as every ride brings their dreams closer.

Ángel Ramón Uzcátegui |Colombia | DiDi Food Courier
Ángel struggled to find a job that truly suited him—until he joined DiDi as a delivery rider. Starting with only a bicycle, Ángel worked tirelessly, braving scorching heat to complete over 20 deliveries a day. His determination paid off — within months, he saved enough to buy a new motorcycle. With that upgrade, his daily deliveries increased to double.
The numbers speak for themselves: the more he works, the more he earns. They’ve also brought him closer to his dream of buying a home where his family can live more comfortably. Now, he’s full of energy—his smile brighter and his dreams within reach.
Elizabeth González|Colombia | DiDi Express Driver
After her son left for college, Elizabeth González, who had been a homemaker for decades, took advantage of her newfound time to learn how to drive. She even went a step further - signing up as a DiDi driver.
Initially, her inexperience led to canceled rides, but Elizabeth did not lose heart. Through persistent practice, she grew increasingly familiar with the platforms' systems and expectations. Her warm and attentive service has earned her praise from passengers, filling her with pride. In her eyes, at 52, she had become whole.
Carla Cerliani | Argentina | Driver
At nearly 50, Carla brought a 33-year marriage to a close and began rebuilding her life. Once a housewife with a stable life, she found herself starting over from scratch. With savings and a loan, she bought her first car and became a DiDi driver, determined to support herself. The early days were tough—her first four-hour shift left her legs trembling—but she refused to give up.
Behind the wheel, she found unexpected solace in strangers sharing laughter and stories, which brightened her days. One elderly passenger, moved by her journey, slipped her a generous tip and said gently, “You’ll be alright.” That kindness, from strangers who became momentary companions, became the fuel that kept Carla moving forward.
Angelica Valez | Chile | DiDi Express
Angélica is a single mother and the pillar of her family. She works tirelessly as a DiDi driver to support her two children’s education. Despite her busy schedule, her children’s understanding and love give her the strength to keep going and to spread that same kindness to people she meets.
Every holiday, she stocks up on chocolates and sweets to share with her passengers. The small act of thoughtfulness earns her smiles—and often extra tips, too. Angélica is increasingly confident that she will guide her children into a promising future.
Jose Gabriel Velazque Diaz | Peru | Courier
Jose leads a vibrant life, balancing his business administration studies with two jobs: delivering for DiDi Food and working as a virtual administrative assistant. During the day, he focuses on his studies, and by evening, he hits the road during peak delivery hours.
For Jose, his goals are crystal clear: focusing on self-improvement and gaining experience to achieve his dream of owning his own consulting firm. His motivation stems from his late father’s advice: true success comes from self-improvement—a creed Jose still lives by every day.
Masaru Nakazato | Japan | Taxi Driver
Fifteen years ago, Nakazato moved from Hokkaido to Ishigaki, Okinawa, and began working as a taxi driver. Over the years, he has developed his own thoughtful approach to service. Each morning begins with carefully cleaning his car, and every farewell is followed by a few kind words to guide his passengers on the next leg of their journey.
Once while driving Chinese tourists, Nakazato used a translation app to recommend Okinawa's attractions. Days later, he received their thank-you letter. Moments like these affirm his belief in the joy of connecting with travelers. "Seeing passengers enjoy the journey – that's what makes my job worthwhile," he says with a smile.
Natacha Evelin | Brazil | 99 Moto Driver
Natacha’s love for motorcycles began at 18, leading her to work as a security guard and run a motorcycle parts store—her bike has been her constant companion ever since.
Now 35 and a single mother of two, she balances her passion and responsibilities by riding with 99Moto to support her family. Her extensive riding experience ensures passengers feel safe, and it earns her trust and a steady income. Natacha calls her motorcycle her “best partner”.
Inocencio Miguel Loranca | Mexico | Express Driver
Having lived in Mexico City for years, 68-year-old Inocencio Loranca has been a DiDi driver for five years. Known for his cheerful and talkative nature, he loves sharing the city’s rich history and hidden gems with his passengers. For him, the most rewarding part of his job is the deep human connections he builds during each ride.
One evening, Inocencio pulled over to talk with a passenger in crisis, spending an entire hour helping her through suicidal thoughts. Days later, she returned with her family to thank him. “Knowing I can make a positive impact on someone’s life is deeply fulfilling,” Inocencio says.
