Hi, I'm Frannie.
Not quite artist, not quite filmmaker, not quite...
Currently based in Ontario for my Master's in Screen Cultures and Curatorial Studies at Queen's University, which I will complete in September of 2024. I hold a BA in Media Arts and Culture and Education from Occidental College; my specialization was in Critical Media Studies, and I wrote two theses on Trans-Pacific digital platform usage.
Mentored by Professor Vivian Wenli Lin, I learned to facilitate participatory media-making methods, and we co-wrote a chapter on the topic, published in Cilect's forthcoming Teaching Documentary in the 21st Century. I see the role of the academic as first a teacher, and I hope to facilitate meaningful student engagement with the world and their passions through media critique and practice. I define my academic work through writing, but have also forayed into video and installation art.
I welcome you to read my CV, or contact me through email, both of which can be found below!
