LINK TO THE SCHEDULE OF LESSONS, WITH READING MATERIAL (HERE YOU FIND ALSO THE LINK TO THE RECORDING OF THE LESSONS).
NOTE ON THE STUDY MATERIAL:
In general, you will find the reading and study material listed in one of the last slides of each presentation (except for a couple of presentations, for which there is no additional study matherial). For the lessons of 23 and 26 May there is no associated presentation. You will find the reference papers to study at the above links.
Note: the slides are only to facilitate the study. To get a good preparation it is not sufficient to only read them. It is necessary to also study the additional indicated study material (papers, book chapters, etc.). Note, the slides might contain errors. If you notice any, please report them.

Exam modality.
The student can decide between the following two alternatives:
Written exam, plus optional oral exam. The written exam consists of excercises and open questions on the theory. The duration of the written exam is around 2 hours. In addition, the student can ask for an oral examination, but please notice that the mark can go up or down as well. The student must book the exam on infostud. The written exam is a closed book exam. No material can be consulted during the exam (no books, slides, notes, etc.). You can bring the calculator, but in general it will not be necessary to carry out the simple calculations present in the exercises.
Practical project, plus mandatory oral examination. The project is on a topic assigned by the instructor (or proposed by the student and validated by the instructor). The project consists in both study and practical activities: the student will study in detail one or more scientific papers/books on the assigned topic, and build a computer simulation to replicate the simulations discussed in the paper (or new, original ones). The student has to produce a written project report (preferably in LaTeX - I suggest using the editor Overleaf https://www.overleaf.com/), which is discussed in details during the oral exam. The oral exam is on the full course program (not just on the topic assigned). The final grade is the average of the project grade and the oral exam grade. The student must book the exam on infostud, and must sent to the instructor all the project material (written report, the code, and any other useful material) before the exam date mentioned on infostud. Minor updates of the matherial are possible after that date. The date of the project discussion and oral exam is agreed with the instructor (it will be between one or two weeks after the infostud exam date).
IN ANY CASE, THE EXAM MUST BE BOOKED ON INFOSTUD, BEFORE THE DATE OF THE WRITTEN EXAM.
NOTE ON DEALINES FOR SUBMISSION AND DISCUSSION OF THE PROJECT (ONLY FOR STUDENTS DOING THE PROJECT):
Exam session 12/06/2023. We must discuss the project before 30/06/2023.
Exam session 06/07/2023. We must discuss the project before 14/07/2023.
Exam session 11/09/2023. We must discuss the project either on 11 or on 12 September 2023.
Send me an email in advance to book the appointment for discussing the project, once completed.
