Your CJ is usually a record notebook of 120 pages, your CJ starts with writting/xeroxing /taking printout and pasting in both sides the following (i) syllabus with list of reference books & Model Q paper (ii) previous year Q papers (p.1-6) and submit the same on 11-02-2026 by 3.30 pm through representatives.

REMEMBER: While submitting the CJ, you can seek two (2) numbers of permission, for permission click HERE, if it exceeds, penality in internal marks need to be faced.

Complete the CJ for Unit-1 (Notes and Screencast videos) and submit on 18-02-2026 by 3.30 pm through your representatives.
Complete the CJ for Unit-2 (Notes and Screencast videos) and submit on 04-03-2026 by 3.30 pm through your representatives.
The internal assessment test is on 14-03-2026 with test portion of Unit -1 and 2; Pattern - (Out of 6) 5 quest x 5 marks = 25 marks. Time - 1 h.

Note: One batch (max.30 students) taking up test in morning hour and the remaining in evening hour.

I welcome you all for the sixth semester of your B.Sc. Hons. Microbiology programme.

Course Objectives

The paper Agricultural microbiology appreciates the application of microbes in the field of Agriculture, mainly to improve crop productivity and crop protection. In this course we also discuss about the various diseases caused by microbes and the measures adopted for their control.

Course Topics

Introduction to Agricultural microbiology and its importance
Types of microbes available in soils - bacteria (Actinobacteria & cyanobacteria) algae, fungi, nematodes, protozoa and viruses
Microbial role in carbon cycle and organic matter decomposition.
Appreciate the role of microbes in rhizosphere and phyllosphere
Biofertilizers, their types, uses and importance in Agriculture.
Importance of mycorrhiza and their applications in Agriculture.
Microbial biocontrol mechanisms
PGPR (Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria).
