CORONAVIRUS
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has reshaped our lives in a way that was once unimaginable. Not long ago, schools pushed for large open classrooms and flexible seating options to enhance student collaboration and relationship-building. As educators and administrators rethink how to effectively educate students, it is important to remember we are all in this fight together, and providing support to one another is essential.
The guidance issued from the CDC, ISBE, and IDPH have been a roadmap to ensure that schools are able to open their doors to onsite learning in a safe manner, however, as public officials learn new information about COVID-19, their guidance evolves, which can alter our plans. Everyone at District 58 believes that in-person instruction is the most beneficial way to teach, but we are also aware that guidelines are set forth to ensure we can do this safely.
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our schools, any symptomatic individual is strongly encouraged to test. If your family is in need of a testing kit, please reach out to your school nurse. After testing positive, a student can return to school after they have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and symptoms are improving overall.
COVID-19 Vaccination Information
We understand that some people may be concerned about getting vaccinated now that COVID-19 vaccines are available in the United States. While more COVID-19 vaccines are being developed as quickly as possible, routine processes and procedures remain in place to ensure the safety of any vaccine that is authorized or approved for use. Safety is a top priority, and there are many reasons to get vaccinated.

Is your child vaccinated?
District 58 invites families to voluntarily share an electronic image of their child’s vaccination card with their building’s health office. Providing proof of vaccination is not required.
Copies of proof of vaccination will be kept in each student’s individual health file and treated in the same way as all health records. Please feel free to send a picture of your child's COVID vaccination card to your school nurse!
