Asthma Information

Asthma is a leading chronic illness among children and adolescents in the United States. It is also one of the leading causes of school absenteeism. On average, in a classroom of 30 children, about 3 are likely to have asthma.

Students who have been diagnosed with asthma should have an Asthma Action Plan Form on file as well as a completed Medication Authorization Form.

While I do encourage independence, please discuss with your child if their asthma inhaler should be carried with them or stored in the health office.  I do ask that students keeping their inhaler in the health office provide the original inhaler box with the prescription label attached.  For those students who have shown responsibility and will self-carry their inhaler, please ensure they have used a permanent marker to clearly write their first and last name on their device.
