Did you know that the Easter Bunny was actually a myth that came to America in the 1700’s from German immigrants (History.com Editors)? After the Germans settled in Pennsylvania the tradition spread across the U.S for many years later and many homes adopted the tradition. The fabled rabbit’s Easter presents soon expanded to have many chocolates and other types of candy inside the gifts and baskets also originating from the Germans (History.com Editors). Many families decorate eggs in various colors to represent new life. Another reason people decorate eggs is because eggs were a forbidden food during the Lenten season. Therefore, people would decorate them and then eat them after the fasting was over as a celebration (History.com Editors). Everyone has different Easter traditions, here are some from DMS students.
Meredith Nea’s favorite part about Easter is, “Eating lots of candy and seeing family. "Meredith also said, “My favorite candy to eat during Easter are the Cadbury Caramel Eggs.” Meredith’s Easter traditions are going to her Grandma’s after church, eating lunch, and hunting for Easter eggs.
Cali Comfort stated, “My Easter traditions include going to church and then going Easter egg hunting at my house in Doniphan.” Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs are Cali’s favorite candy to eat during Easter. Cali quoted, “My favorite part about Easter is seeing my family and hanging out with them.” These are just some Easter traditions from students around DMS.

What is your biggest fear and why?
Have you ever wondered what people's biggest fears are? Most people don’t like to face their fears. One of the fears that people might have are heights and insects. Another fear that people might have is fear of closed or open spaces. Fear could help us be aware of what is in the world.
According to the article Acrophobia on my.clevelandclinic.org, “On average, three to six percent of people are scared of heights.” Chloe Warren stated “My biggest fear is heights because I was on a ropes course and someone threatened to push me off.” Some fears may not be caused by one big scary event. We know this because Mr.Jinkerson stated “My biggest fear is nuclear bombs because of mass desruction that they can cause.” Some people might have a fear of becoming homeless. Liz Zahner said “Becoming homeless is my biggest fear because a lot of things can happen to you.” Some people might inherit fear. Some fears are not classified as a fear but can have a specific name. Mrs. Eifert stated “My biggest fear is my kids losing belief in Jesus because I want to know that I can see them in heaven.” What seems to be something small to others can cause an extreme sense of anxiety and affect our lives in more ways than just one.
