Please review the Student Info and Troubleshooting page. Students are advised to contact an adult to help them with technical issues.
Remind students to keep their Chromebooks inside of their cases at all times.
Remind students to zip their cases and carry them properly to avoid damage during transportation.
Remind students to charge their device at home and come to school "Technology Ready".
Extra chargers are not available in the technology department.
Locate student Usernames and Passwords as well as Chromebook Numbers on the Login Info Tab in Infinite Campus.
Verify that students with issues logging in have used the correct login info.
Assist students with restarting their machine if it is frozen or is not working properly by pressing and holding the power button for up to 30 seconds. Then tap the power button once to restart.
Show students how to remove or turn off Extensions that may be causing problems. For example, custom cursors, themes, and games may slow the device or cause other browser issues.
Make certain that students keep their four digit DeWitt Public Schools asset tag number visible in the plastic window of their Chromebook case. The four digit asset number can be found on the back of the device as shown in this image.
Identify a location in the classroom for storage of devices that need service. Share this location with tech staff when you put in a helpdesk ticket. A shelf, counter, or bin would all be ideal.
Students often inadvertently turn on the international keyboard. If a student complains, or you notice, that there are accents or other characters, change the keyboard back to "US" in the settings or use the Ctrl+Space keyboard shortcut.
Ctrl+Shift+Refresh will rotate the screen on a Chromebook.
Each time you hold down Ctrl+Shift+Refresh, the screen will rotate 90-degrees clockwise.
Ctrl+Shift+0 will reset the display settings.
This can be helpful with resolution issues. For example, during NWEA testing, if a student can't see the "Next" button at the bottom of the screen, try resetting the display.
