Each student will receive a 14" Touchscreen Chromebook to use at home and at school.
Your Chromebook Case
It comes with an "always-on" case...
An always on carry case will be provided with the Chromebook to keep the device safe from breakage. Students are expected to keep their device in the case at all times.
...and one charger.
One charger will be provided with the Chromebook. Students will need to come to school with a fully charged device each day. Although the provided case does include a pocket for the charger, we advise the chargers be left at home since the Chromebook will last the entire day on a full charge and the number of power ports available for charging during the day at the Middle School are limited.
My Chromebook does not turn on.
Make sure that the Chromebook is charged, or plug it in to the power outlet.
Press and hold the power button for 35-40 seconds so that the Chromebook will power down. Tap the power again to restart the machine.
I can't log in or I get an error message when I try to log in.
Double check your user name and password. Ask your teacher to verify.
Make certain that your caps lock is not on (Search+Alt on your keyboard)
Record the error and ask your teacher or your parent to help you contact the helpdesk.
I get pop ups on my screen or I am not able to access websites that my teacher has asked me to use.
Click the 3 dots in the upper right corner of the browser and select More Tools, then Extensions. Remove any of the extensions that you have added yourself to the Chromebook as these can sometimes cause problems. Restart your Chromebook.
If clearing extensions does not work, have your teacher or your parent help you contact the helpdesk.
My Chromebook is not charged.
Students are expected to charge their device at home each night so that it is ready for school each day.
If your Chromebook is out of battery, please ask your teacher to borrow a Chromebook from one of the DMS Chromebook Carts for the day.
If there is an available power port in your classroom and you have your charger, please ask your teacher for permission to plug in.
Always make sure that your power cord is in a safe location. Make sure that it is not going to trip anyone. Also make sure that the cord is safe from damage from stretching or being run over and broken.
My Chromebook is broken.
Please make certain that your Chromebook is always kept in its case, and that you plug it in very carefully with the provided charger only. Please do not pick at or pry any of the keys.
If any part of your Chromebook is broken, please shut it off and let your teacher or your parent know about the damage. Have the adult contact the helpdesk to assist with any repairs.
