Profile:

Students from 3rd grade onwards, with previous experience in volunteer projects of social intervention and motivated towards the intervention with children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability. Responsible and dynamic, who are involved and participate actively with children in typical activities of a summer camp (games, dynamics, sports, workshops, outings, excursions ...) Eager to learn and be part of a team. They believe in and encourage good treatment. 

The following degrees will be valued: pedagogy, education, psychology, social work, and social education.

Project and activity identification:

The four selected students will spend the first month in Vaçantes, in the summer camp and the month of August in Joao Pessoa. 



This first part of the project will be carried out together with the other 4 volunteers selected for the Brazil I project, so the team during this month will be made up of 8 volunteers. 


During the first month of the volunteer project will take place at Fundação Fé e Alegria, located in the city of Araçoiaba, in the interior of the Brazilian state of Ceará. This institution works together with vulnerable children and adolescents and their families. It has several educational, recreational and cultural initiatives aimed at the integral development of the students who participate there.


What are we going to do?

In the months of June and July, Fundação Fé e Alegria does not have routine activities because it is a school break period. These children are exposed to the most varied types of violence, so the volunteers can develop recreational and educational activities during this period, avoiding the marginalization of these children.


In addition to these activities, volunteers will be able to participate in the following activities:


Schedule: 

Every day from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00. On weekends there will be cultural, community and educational activities shared with the population.



This city is located on the northeast coast and is the capital of the state of Paraíba. This institution works together with vulnerable children and adolescents and their families. It has several educational, recreational and cultural initiatives aimed at the integral development of the students who participate there. 



The tasks will be as follows:

Vulnerable children and adolescents and their families living in Joao Pessoa and Vaçantes.


Previous training:

All students selected for the VUELA program will receive common training for participation in volunteer activities.

Field support:

The field accompaniment will be carried out by the organization itself throughout the project, as well as by a person from the convening universities who will accompany the experience in the field.

Lodging and meals:

The organization will provide rooms in community facilities in Vaçantes in July, and in UNICAP facilities in the city of Joao Pessoa in August. As well as food and simple meals like those eaten by the local population. 

It is possible that each volunteer may have to contribute individually a small amount to the common bag to cover some extra expenses. The amounts will be communicated prior to arrival, as well as the method of payment.

Transport:

The student is responsible for arranging and paying for transportation to the intervention site, and must inform the project's reference university of the date and time of arrival at least 15 days in advance.
