Identification of the project and activity:
The Solidarity Centre of Braga / Projecto Homem is a non-profit Private Institution of Social Solidarity, founded in 1991 by the Archdiocese of Braga, the Vicariate of Charitable Action and Caritas Archdiocesan of Braga.
It specialises in the treatment, prevention, harm reduction and reintegration of people with addictive behaviours and dependencies. The therapeutic-educational programme Projecto Homem works from a Christian anthropological vision defending the dignity and freedom of the individual. It provides services in the fields of health, social work, citizenship, education and justice.
It is authorised by the Service of Intervention in Addictive Behaviour and Dependencies (SICAD), with a Therapeutic Community Agreement and a Cooperation Agreement with the Social Security Institute for Social Reinsertion.
Its mission is:
1. To take care of people with addictive behaviours and dependencies.
2. To promote family, social and labour inclusion through the therapeutic-educational programme Proyecto Hombre.
3. To intervene in the areas of prevention, treatment, reinsertion, risk reduction and harm minimisation.
It aspires to be an institution of reference in the field of addictive behaviour, recognised for its good practices and results. It tries to answer to the expectations of its users and members, taking into account the new challenges and the urgency of new responses.
It values are: full respect for the dignity of the person, christian humanism, social responsibility, quality of care, solidarity and a sense of volunteerism.
The tasks of the volunteers will be:
-To take care of people with addictive behaviours and dependencies.
- To promote family, social and labour inclusion through the therapeutic-educational programme Proyecto Hombre.

We want the volunteer to be present in the different self-help groups that take place in the morning, to go through all the sectors in the afternoon and to participate in the activities that have been programmed. Accompanying the day therapists, the volunteer will have the opportunity to get to know all the technicians and to learn different ways of intervention.
