Since 2023, DE UNA, in alliance with the Kogüi communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, has worked to improve the quality of life of the Mamarongo, Satey and Munkuawuinaka peoples. Through DE UNA Colombia Tours S.A.S., we have taken the traditional Kogüi Mochilas to tourists, promoting their culture and traditions.
Thanks to this collaboration, we have promoted not only cultural preservation, but also the development of social projects executed during 2024, among them:
Construction of the Translator's House: Space for learning and preservation of the Kogüi culture in the community of Mamarongo.
Meeting of Kogüi Families: Event held in Mamarongo to strengthen the identity and unity of the community.
La Esperanza School: Located in La Esperanza, this institution benefits the children of 54 families belonging to the Kogüi, Arhuaca, Wiwa and settler ethnic groups. During the year, the progress of the project was documented with photographic records.
La Esperanza Bridge: Acquisition of cement for the construction of the Dukshimaizhi bridge, which connects with the community of La Esperanza.
Investment in supplies and food: Destined for the realization of a ceremony that integrates the villages of Mamarongo, Satey and Munkuawuinaka.
Transportation of supplies: Logistical support for the transportation of household goods and food donated by the mayor's office. Since each package weighs 25 kg and the journey to Mulkuawi involves a four-hour walk, assistance was provided to facilitate their transportation.
We are proud to contribute to the social and sustainable development of these communities, where the Mochila Kogüi not only represents a cultural symbol, but also a fundamental pillar for the promotion and well-being of their people.
