WHAT IS TOPS 2 JUMPSTART?

The TOPS Tech Jumpstart Career Diploma is well suited for those students who are interested in a career and technical area after high school, such as business, culinary arts, digital arts, automobile service, welding, carpentry, and health areas such as emergency medical responder or nurse.

Career options we offer at NDHS - Manufacturing (welding, electrical, carpentry), Information Technology or Business Management (CIW, Adobe), Health Sciences (Med-Assist, PLTW Medical), Arts, AV Tech, Communication (Adobe, Art, Band, Theatre), and Architecture (agriscience I-III, environmental science, Carpentry, Engineering).

TOPS 2 Pathway

English - 4 Units

English I
English II
Business English or English III
Technical Writing or English IV

Math - 4 Units

Algebra I
Geometry
Business Math, or Math Essentials
Financial Literacy

Science - 2 Units

Biology I
1 unit from the following: Physical Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science,or Biology II

Social Studies - 2 Units

Civics
U.S. History

PE/Health - 2 Units

Health (½ unit)
Physical Education (1 ½ units)

Career Courses - 9 units

A sequence of similar electives which leads to earning an advanced industry credential.

YOU CAN STILL GET TOPS MONEY!

TOPS 2 JumpStart students are eligible for TOPS money. Students who opt in to the TOPS 2 JumpStart pathway are required to attend a two year college prior to attending a 4-year university. Many students choose to get their associates degrees and then some make the choice to continue on to a 4-year university while others choose to go directly into the workforce.
