As we have noticed in the ISK community, this school produces a lot of food waste, a lot of it coming from students' excess food from lunch. Luckily, there is a way in which we can utilize this food waste for a good course. We can use a biomass shredder that will shred and break down the raw food waste into a sludge. We can then use this sludge in the biogas digester that will collect the methane released from rotting food and use the methane for a type of gas.
We have been able to collect food waste from the school and shred it in the biomass digester giving us the food waste sludge. Once we have poured this sludge into the biogas digester, we have been able to utilize the methane gas produced as gas or fuel for our cooking. So far, we've been able to use the methane gas to cook popcorn and pancakes that turned out to be a huge success.
